After 45 years of marriage with my husband, who was diagnosed with a schizoid personality 10 yrs. ago, and all of the years have been so sad out of a non-emotional controlling way of being on my husband’s part with much gaslighting and blaming, none of which he seems to ‘get’ and says he feels unable to change. Now that he is retired I feel increasingly sad, tired and held back from lively living…withdrawal and silence treatments are the norm. I want to follow Jesus and continually ask ‘do I stay…or do I leave?’ I find it very hard not to be emotionally affected. Also, I do believe any one can change by changing how they think. God is not real for my husband. Actually, any abstract idea is rejected. I am ready to leave, but still have a nagging little question of whether I should be able to disconnect emotionally and focus only on Jesus’ love for me. The differing voices in the christian community do not help. But I would like to hear yours. Thank you.
